Every meaningful object begins long before it becomes physical. It begins as an idea, a memory, a story, or a tradition. Too often, products are created simply because they can be - not because they should be.
Nelson Industrial Arts was founded on a different belief: that craftsmanship can preserve history, honor tradition, and transform ideas into objects that carry meaning.
Learning the Craft
My journey began in a small town in Arkansas, where an early curiosity about art and craftsmanship led me to study Illustration and Fine Art, including the techniques of the Old Masters. Those experiences taught me that great work is never accidental - every detail reflects intention.
That foundation expanded through military service and a career in product development, engineering, and manufacturing. Working with teams and factories across the United States and around the world taught me how products move from concept to reality.
More importantly, it taught me how things are built.
The Question That Changed Everything
Throughout my career, I learned how products are designed, engineered, manufactured, and brought to market.
But over time, a different question became more important:
What makes an object worth creating in the first place?
The most meaningful creations don't simply solve problems. They preserve memories, celebrate craftsmanship, honor tradition, and tell stories worth carrying forward.
That realization became the foundation of Nelson Industrial Arts.
Why Nelson Industrial Arts Exists
By day, I work in structured product development, where engineering and manufacturing transform ideas into products. Nelson Industrial Arts is where that technical discipline meets artistic curiosity.
It is not an escape from product development. It is an extension of it.
Whether creating sculpture, developing new products, reconstructing legacy parts, or designing digital models, every project begins with the same question:
What deserves to exist?
Ideas become designs.
Designs become craftsmanship.
Craftsmanship becomes objects that carry meaning.

My goal isn't simply to make products. It's to build a studio where craftsmanship, technology, and imagination come together to create work that lasts - objects people keep not because they need them, but because they mean something.
